CERREC Transnational Policy Statement

One of the main aims of CERREC is to reach a transnational Central Europe (CE) stakeholder consensus on how re-use should be developed, implemented and fostered in CE national practices. The permanent transnational stakeholder participation process results in the development of a Policy Statement for re-use and repair within CE.

The Stakeholder Policy Statement is a core output of the project that summarises views of project partners and External Advisory Board members. This document will be available online soon for signing for all supporters committed to the issue of re-use.

2nd Expert Advisory Board meeting in Budapest

The second Expert Advisory Board (EAB) meeting within the CERREC project took place on 26th of September 2012 in Budapest. It targeted at the discussion about questions emerged during the project co-operation so far and about the draft of Transnational Policy Statement for the CERREC project.

Kick-starting re-use in Europe

Project CERREC aims to achieve environmental, social and economic goals by supporting expansion of the re-use market. Examples and statistics from all around the globe, presented in the article published by Michal Len from RREUSE, suggest that these goals are definitely manageable.

According to United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), cited in the RREUSE article, between 20 and 50 million tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment is still disposed of each year worldwide. It is a similar story for used textiles and furniture. The re-use sector, however, is all too often overshadowed in the political arena by recycling and this is clearly reflected in current legislation.

Re-use activities:

Reports on CERREC stakeholder participation processes in the Central Europe countries

One of the core activities of the CERREC project is the implementation of a national and transnational expert and stakeholder participation network. The reason is to guarantee not only knowledge and good practise transfer or the expert exchange, but also output evaluation and the development of know how during and after the project.

Stakeholder participation processes have been already started in Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland and Slovakia. And CERREC project has already reached the first base – the re-use implementation processes have been already started in some countries.

Re-use EVENT:

TransWaste Final Conference in Hungary

The TransWaste Final Conference “Less waste, more resources – Re-use and the informal sector in Europe” took place from the 24th till the 25th of September 2012 in Budapest. About 120 participants from 20 different countries have been joining the conference including several CERREC partners.

A significant part of the conference was devoted to the topics of existing re-use activities, the possibilities of integrating informal activities in re-use and recycling, the ambitions for improving re-use in Europe and the possibilities for combining re-use and the social economy.

CERREC project meeting:

4th General Transnational Meeting in Budapest

The 4th General Transnational Meeting took place in Budapest from the 26th to the 27th of September 2012. The project partner of Hungary – Bay Zoltán Nonprofit Ltd. – was responsible for the perfect frame and organisation of the meeting. With participation of all project partners the 4th meeting was intensively used to discuss the status of the project implementation of single work packages and the planning of next steps for reaching the further goals.
